The Valais Department of the Economy, with the support of around 100 entrepreneurs, creates the CIMTEC-Valais association to facilitate access to Computer Integrated Manufacturing skills for SMEs (CIMTEC-Valais stands for "Computer Integrated Manufacturing Technologies - Valais").

Cimtec-Valais is developing the concept of a technological Valais built around several sites along the Rhône river.

The Ark Foundation taking over the balance sheet of the CIMTEC-Valais association. CimArk SA is incorporated, with The Ark Foundation as sole shareholder, marking the start of operational management of the Foundation and its services. The first companies are housed at the BioArk's site in Monthey.
